The principle of autonomy and independence. Legal and economic consequences arising from its application in Costa Rica
Abstract
The Principle of autonomy and independence of cooperatives was recovered and analyzed in 1995, when the analysts and scholars of the International Cooperative Alliance decided to review the Cooperative Principles again, which resulted in the incorporation of that principle in the list circulating until that time. Each country has a different way of assuming the concepts of autonomy and independence of cooperative entities, in Costa Rica there are multiple manifestations of public entities that analyze their practical application and as cooperatives have seen business opportunities, they have left part of their defense for the autonomy of its decisions, in order to fulfill the social objective defined as the achievement of the economic and social well-being of its associates and the community in which they develop.
