Abstract

Cooperation among cooperatives in Argentine started few years after the very first cooperatives were created when there were no legal framework to regulate it and it developed significantly when the first cooperative law granted recognition to it. Since then many federations were established to perform economic and representative activities and in the 1950’s confederations come about. On the other hand, cooperatives may also use forms of collaboration regulated by the law on corporations. In recent years there has been a big increase in the number of federations and confederations which resulted in a notable change of the traditional scheme of pyramidal organization of the cooperative movement.
