Abstract

This paper analyses the basic legal system of electric cooperatives in their judicial aspect as consumer cooperatives whose social purpose is distribution of electric energy and the commercialisation of all types of electricity-related energy products. The study is based on the quantitative and qualitative role of electric cooperatives which are currently an example of an efficient management model, ensuring that electricity is provided to their members as well as to an increasing number of other customers at very economical competitive prices. This is achieved by development in accordance with the principles and procedures typical of what can be called a sustainable energy model.
