Author Guidelines

1. Topic. The International Association of Cooperative Law Journal (IACLJ) publishes twice a year research articles about Cooperatives and Social Economy.

2. Sending articles. The articles must be original and unpublished. They should be sent on line to the following link: Make a new submission

3. Format. On the first page should include the title, author`s name and academic affiliation or profession. The second page should include two abstracts, in Spanish and in English, about 120 words each, and a list of keywords (3 to 5 words), both in Spanish and in English. The texts are preceded by a brief summary of the different sections in which the article is structured, in Spanish and in English. The submission file should be in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF or WordPerfect format.

4. Editing standards. The Chicago Manual of Style (CMOS) should be used as a reference for manuscript preparation. Authors are required to format their citations and references using the ‘Author-Date’ system of the CMOS, 16th edition, and not its ‘Notes and Bibliography’ system.

The paper should include full bibliographic references on the last page. The papers presented will have a length between 10 and 35 pages.

5. Use of AI-assisted technologies

AI Authorship
This policy aims to provide greater transparency and guidance to authors, reviewers, readers, and editors regarding the use of AI-assisted technologies.
Large Language Models (LLMs), such as ChatGPT, currently do not meet the authorship criteria of REVESCO. It is important to note that attributing authorship implies accountability for the work, which cannot be effectively applied to LLMs.
Authors must declare in their manuscript the use of AI and AI-assisted technologies, and this will be appropriately cited. Declaring the use of these technologies promotes transparency and trust among authors, readers, reviewers, and editors, and facilitates compliance with the terms of use of the relevant tool or technology. The use of LLMs should be adequately cited following the CMOS (17th edition) guidelines, which can be consulted in full here (https://www.chicagomanualofstyle.org/qanda/data/faq/topics/Documentation/faq0422.html):

We can also include the full texts of long LLM responses in an appendix to our work or in supplementary materials.

5. Gender policy. This Journal, in line with its commitment to gender equality, recommends to authors to:

a) Include the full name of authors in the bibliography, instead of using only their initials.

b) Use inclusive language, and not sexist, in terms of gender (when preparing their manuscripts); avoiding discrimination, making gender visible when communication so requires and not doing so when it is not necessary for communication.

c) Indicate whether the conclusions have taken into account possible sex differences in those works carried out with research data including the sex variable.

7. Publication process. The Editor and the Assistant Editor with the participation of the Editorial Staff and the Advisory Board shall decide the publication of articles on the basis of an independent external evaluation. The evaluation process of the papers will be a blind peer review, following BAIDC's code of ethics. Authors may make proofreading and, if within 10 days was not received corrections, it is understood that the author is satisfied with the impression received.

8. Fees. Currently, no charges for manuscript submission, processing, and publication are applicable.

Copyright Notice

The authors, by submitting their manuscripts to the International Association of Cooperative Law Journal, accept the conditions listed below on copyright and undertake to comply with them.

1. Assignment of rights

The Publisher (University of Deusto) retains the copyright for this publication.

The authors, by submitting their manuscripts to the International Association of Cooperative Law Journal (BAIDC), without signing any document of assignment, grant to the Publisher (University of Deusto), royalty-free, the distribution, public communication, and reproduction rights of their work subject of publication in the International Association of Cooperative Law Journal (BAIDC), whichever the media may be, now known or developed in the future, for educational and scholarly purposes including the permission to include it in the databases where this Journal is indexed.

2. Authorship

The authors must be the sole creators of the work or legally acting on behalf of and with the full agreement of all the co-authors.

The corresponding author should ensure that all appropriate co-authors and no inappropriate co-authors are included on the manuscript, and that all co-authors have seen and approved the final version of the article and have agreed to its submission for publication in the Journal.

In order to avoid the risk of ghostwriting or fictive/purloined authorship it is advisable that before the document is submitted all authors agree upon their contributions and upon the order in which they will appear on the list of co-authors.

Authors warrant that no permissions or licences of any kind have been granted or will be granted that might infringe the rights granted to the Publisher (University of Deusto).

The authors assume the responsibility for obtaining all the necessary licences for the reproduction in their manuscripts of any text, material or illustration coming from another author, institution or publication.

3. Copyright and Code of conduct

Authors warrant that their work is original; has not been previously copyrighted or published in any form; is not under consideration for publication elsewhere; its submission and publication do not violate the Ethical Guidelines of the BAIDC and any codes (of conduct), laws or any rights of any third party.

4. Dissemination under Open Access regime

Upon its publication, the content of any Issue of International Association of Cooperative Law Journal (BAIDC), can be accessed, read, downloaded, copied, and distributed freely for non-commercial purposes, without prior permission from the Publisher or the author; provided the original work is properly cited and any changes to the original are clearly indicated.

5. Reuse of the article by the authors

Authors retain the right to present, display, distribute, develop, and republish their work, as long as they clearly indicate in the first footnote that the work was published in International Association of Cooperative Law Journal (BAIDC), for the first time, indicating the Issue number, year, pages, and DOI (if applicable).

Legal notice

Any use of the content of the paper against the rules set above in any medium or format, now known or developed in the future, requires prior written permission of the copyright holder.

The liabilities that may arise from complaints for publishing plagiarised articles are the sole responsibility of the authors.

Privacy Statement

The names and email addresses uploaded to this website will be used exclusively for the stated purposes of this Journal and will not be made available for any other purpose, or to any other party.

In addition, the University of Deusto provides adequate support and maintenance to the Journal's website, paying special attention to security aspects that help protect users against viruses and malware.
